Election 2007 is behind us and there are exciting times ahead for Family First, which looks set to play an
extremely important and influential role in the new Parliament.
The campaign was presidential in style and very much focussed on the two major parties, but Family First
worked hard to release and promote positive policies to help families and small businesses.
Our hard work paid off, and I am delighted that Family First increased its vote in Victoria.
Family First had 152 candidates across the country and 43 in Victoria, and I want to thank them all for their
great effort and congratulate them on their results.
I also want to sincerely thank the thousands of polling booth volunteers who helped us. Family First could
not have achieved the success we did without your tremendous help.
It appears that Family First will be sharing the Balance of Power in the Senate in the new Parliament,
which is obviously an extremely important and influential role.
Family First will be in a key position to represent families and small businesses across the nation, and to
improve legislation to get better outcomes so families and small businesses really benefit.
I assure you that Family First will continue to operate in a balanced and sensible way, looking at all legislation
on its merits and weighing up how it affects families and small businesses. Putting the family first
will always be our top priority!
Best wishes to you and your family,
Senator Steve Fielding
